::: History of Avia
Avia, the Czech Republic manufacturer, was founded in 1919 as an aircraft and engine manufacturer. Before World War 11, Avia built up a strong reputation as as aircraft design and production company. It was especially renowned for the famous Czech fighter - the Avia B-534. After the war, Avia manufactured the 14-32, the largest airplane ever produced in the Czech Republic.
| In 1946, during the post war era, Avia became involved in the automotive industry, producing trucks and buses. In 1995, the Korean conglomerate purchased a majority shareholding in Avia which resulted in the company being renamed Daewoo Avia. A modernised truck range was developed and launching of the D Line took place in 2000. A new production facility was built with state of the art tooling and engineering facilities available. In 2005, Daewoo sold their shareholding and thus the re-emergence of the Avia brand took place.
